Dominique is a descendant of the Tay and Kinh peoples in Vietnam. She was born in the Inland Empire after her parents moved from Oklahoma. Before YWFC, Dominique was the Director of Youth Justice Policy at the Children’s Defense Fund-CA. Previously, she was a youth public defender in Baltimore City, MD and a clinical fellow at Northwestern Law School where she created the Pretrial Representation and Corrections Policy Project dedicated to reducing Illinois’ over-reliance on incarceration. She also was an attorney at the Southern Poverty Law Center where she engaged in campaigns to end transfer of youth to the adult criminal injustice system, abolish police in schools, and challenge youth prison conditions.
