Ka’lee is formally incarcerated and has been navigating the foster care system since the age of 14 . As an older sister and role model, she takes the “big sister” role very seriously by advocating for her younger sister’s needs. She is an outspoken leader who goes after her goals, even though everyone calls her the “turtle in the shell “. Ka’lee has also advocated for her community by speaking up and sharing her knowledge gained from her past experiences navigating the system. Ka’lee’s goals range from graduating college with a degree in Child Development, to getting custody of her sister, and beginning her training as a fire fighter!
Her biggest goal of all, is to empower the youth in her community by helping their voices be heard, while working alongside other youth organizers to end the juvenile justice system!
