Zinnia Loren is an accomplished photographer and a dedicated mentor, educator, and advocate. Since her teenage years, art has been an integral part of her own healing journey and mental health recovery. Throughout the past decade, it has also been a tool that she has used to empower others to take up space and reclaim their narratives.
As a proud Black, Mexican and Chilean woman, Zinnia credits her resourcefulness and determination to her family’s persistence through poverty, displacement, violence, mental illness, incarceration, and other generational traumas. But while she is grateful for the acquired resilience, she hopes to make it so that the next generation can instead experience freedom.
