Maya is an Oakland native who grew up immersed in the diverse cultural and political climate of the Bay Area. Maya was drawn to the design and fashion industry after high school, where she worked as part of a community of young women entrepreneurs. Maya then founded her own interior design business, supporting individual clients, small businesses, and non-profit organizations to create physical environments aligned with their vision and values. Working directly with non-profits inspired Maya to do more to advance justice in her community, and she saw herself reflected in the amazing young women and system-impacted young people at YWFC.
As the Chief Executive Assistant, Maya provides critical support to YWFC’s Co-Executive Directors Julia and Abigail, and assists with events and special projects.
