Rocio was born in Van Nuys and raised in Oakland, CA. They grew up in a Guatemalan household, raised by a single mother. Throughout their formative years, they watched their mother work tirelessly, to provide for her family. Lived experiences instilled in them a deep understanding of the challenges faced by first-generation youth. Growing up with limited resources motivated them to pursue a college education, driving their passion to learn how to harness technology for the greater good.
Today, Rocio is an advocate for first-generation, queer, and system-impacted youth. Inspired by their own experiences, they are dedicated to finding innovative ways to provide support and resources for underrepresented communities, aiming to bridge gaps and create opportunities where they once felt absent.
Their passion lies in advocating for youth who want to break the cycle of poverty and youth who are exploring their sexuality and gender identity, believing that every young person deserves a safe space to express themselves freely and authentically. Through education, support, and community engagement, they aim to empower youth, helping them navigate their journeys with confidence and resilience.
