Jessica Jimenez is a non-binary, Mexican-American, Self-Determination Coordinator at the Young Women’s Freedom Center. They were raised in Santa Ana and their childhood was shaped by generational cycles of trauma and being system-impacted. During their childhood, she vowed to let education be the driving force for survival. She graduated from UC Berkeley and earned a bachelor’s degree in Ethnic Studies. Since then, they have worked in multiple fields to connect marginalized communities to basic needs resources. They have also developed their work and investment in restorative & transformative justice. They are working towards building a world free of institutional and interpersonal violence that is grounded in community and care.
They are dedicated to fighting for our youth’s self-determination and liberation through art, healing, empowerment, education, community building, and dismantling systems of violence.
