Program Manager - LA
About The Position
The Position: The Program Manager at Young Women's Freedom Center Site is responsible for ensuring
that YWFC’s programs are consistently meeting their goals and objectives. This position provides
consistent training and learning opportunities so that staff can achieve organizational and programmatic
goals and objectives, implement programs and activities, and creates & maintains safe and pro-active
spaces where cis and trans women and girls, trans men and boys and gender expansive youth* of color
that have grown up in poverty can teach and learn from one another while simultaneously building
community. This position plays a key role in the developing and maintaining strong ties to YWFC’s youth
base in the community, building the leadership and organizing skills of all youth, developing and
implementing strategies for engagement through building partnerships to advance local campaign work.
Using YWFC’s Theory of Change and core methodologies, the Program Manager ensures that the team
moves from a place of harm reduction, education as a practice of freedom, and progressive youth
development theory, ensuring they are present in all program components and activities. The Program
Manager oversees all program operations, thus maintaining all data and administrative systems related to
the delivery of effective service and programmatic functions, including overseeing all reporting
requirements and supervision of program staff.
General Duties:
● Maintain and develop relationships with Probation Officers, Judges, the District Attorney,
Deputies, and other key personnel overseeing facilities and or judicial services that directly
impact the lives of the young women we work with.
● Develop and maintain relationships with organizations, service providers, stakeholders, etc. that
work with and or support young women in Detention programs and ensure all Detention
Programs staff are aware of program partners.
● Attend key meetings hosted by facilities staff and other collaborating agencies to ensure case
coordination, advocacy plans for young women, and coordinated services.
● Lead efforts in revising and updating trainings, curriculums, forms, intakes, and program-related
documents in partnership with the Director and
● Oversee and direct assigned programs, ensuring programs are of the highest quality and in
alignment with YWFC Theory of Change, meeting the needs of the young people they serve,
following YWFC’s guidelines, and meeting all contractual requirements.
● Ensure the facilitation of weekly healing and connective circles with young women and trans
youth of all genders post-release. On an annual basis update the 12-week curriculum to ensure
it's relevant to the young women in the group including the county that the group is located in.
The curriculum should reflect; barriers to reentry, life skills, job skills, healing and political
education, leadership development, and Self-determination.
● Oversee advocacy efforts, provide feedback and supportive training to any other organization
staff person or volunteer working directly with young women and trans youth of all genders.
● Co-manage program budgets and conduct expense control and variance analysis on a monthly
basis in partnership with Site Director
● Oversee and implement an annual curriculum development process for each program using
person centered participatory approach, YWFC Theory of Change, and YWFC Leadership Rubric
in partnership with Site Director and Site Team
● Develop and update annual work plans in partnership with Program Staff and Site Director
● Work with youth to increase their ability to advocate for themselves and navigate the systems and
service providers they are involved with.
● Support in the development of local and statewide campaigns providing research, review,
resources, and campaign evaluations methodology
● Actively participate in building a campaigns that centers the leadership and power of young
people that have been directly impacted by gender based violence, incarceration, foster care, and
the juvenile justice system
● Ensure youth are well-informed of YWFC’s movement, policy, and local campaign work on an
ongoing basis including and ensure interns are participating in strategy and strategy related
meetings as necessary, participating in work to advance local campaigns, and participate in
coalitions and other community based work as approved/ requested by supervisor

Reporting and Evaluation
● Maintain and enter data into appropriate data systems for reporting for both city and county, and
foundation grant requirements and internal organizational systems/databases in a timely manner
● Maintain weekly program notes, and collect data pertaining to programmatic goals to contribute to
quarterly progress reports
● Facilitate weekly Mic-Check meetings with other team members to ensure holistic support and
additional support strategies needed to better support participant, and ensure accurate reporting
● Oversee all reporting requirements for your respective work plans (monthly reports, data
collection, operations reports, Supervision check ins, etc.) and ensure all proper forms are
completed, progress is monitored, and data is updated.
● Provide monthly program summaries to the Site Director including quantitative and qualitative
data of all programmatic activities, trainings and outcomes pertaining to programmatic goals for
programs
● Ensure programs are evaluated and updated on an ongoing basis ,and that feedback and
findings from evaluations are used to develop, revise, and update programs and activities
● Track participant attendance and engagement, and provide support and accountability to youth
fellows and interns around consistent attendance and engaged participation, including conducting
and documenting learning opportunities, verbal and written write ups and developing transition
plans when needed
● Ensure program forms, overviews, flyers, curriculums, and any other significant program data is
updated and stored appropriately, in accordance with YWFC’s filing and storage procedures
Management and Administrative:
● Attend regularly scheduled supervision and other planning and strategy meetings as set by the
Site Director and Senior Leadership Team.
● Facilitate regular program strategy meetings and weekly 1:1 supervision meetings with program
staff
● Build and maintain relationships in the community that increase YWFC’s ability to fulfill its
mission, and increase the success of programmatic efforts
● Work with the Executive Team to identify opportunities to increase your visibility in the community
that directly increase YWFC’s impact including; Commissions, Boards, Committees, etc.
● Work to ensure the organization’s mission, vision, and guiding principles are a guide to your work
at the Center and that all program activities, curriculums, etc. are developed based on these
principles.
● Manager special and additional projects, and tasks as needed and directed by supervisor and
other YWFC Directors in efforts to support the advancement of YWFC and site goals
● Create ongoing opportunities for leadership development of young women that we work with
including opportunities to learn new tasks and skills, take leadership in the work, and engage in
ongoing opportunities.
● Respond to emails, text messages, and other correspondence in a timely manner
● Participate in YWFC events, staff meetings, trainings, and staff development opportunities on an
ongoing basis
